Sporting News - A behind-the-scenes look at the 2016 Final Four logo -
The road to this year’s Final Four runs through the small city of Pottsville, Pennsylvania.
Pottsville, located in the heart of the anthracite coal region of eastern Pennsylvania, is home to D.G. Yuengling & Son, America’s oldest operating brewery. It’s also home to Joe Bosack & Co., the firm responsible for this year’s Final Four logo, which represents but a single component in an entirely new NCAA championship identity system.
Joe Bosack has developed nearly one hundred identities for colleges and universities over the past two decades, as well as logos for the SEC and ACC. His institutional knowledge of collegiate sports design is immense. Creating a perpetual visual identity for the Final Four is a plum assignment, but being tasked with a top-down NCAA-wide championship rebranding put him and his team into unchartered territory.
